Your Canal Adventure Matters – We'd Love to Hear From You

View from the bow of a red narrowboat cruising along the Grand Union Canal near Tring, Hertfordshire. An orange life ring sits on the boat's roof in the foreground. The still water reflects lush green trees lining both banks, with colourful narrowboats moored on the left and a traditional brick bridge visible ahead under a soft cloudy sky.
A peaceful moment on the Grand Union Canal near Tring – cruising past willow trees and under old brick bridges, with nothing but birdsong and calm water ahead. This is what a day out with Narrowboat Day Hire feels like.

Did you recently enjoy a day out on the water with us? Whether you cruised along the Grand Union Canal, slipped beneath a quiet brick bridge, or simply sat back with a cuppa while the Hertfordshire countryside drifted by, your experience matters.

The Canal & River Trust has launched its Hire Boat Survey 2026, and they'd like to hear from people who've hired a boat for a day trip or holiday.

By taking part, you can help:

- show the Trust what hire boaters need

- support future planning across the 2,000-mile canal network

- highlight how important boating is to local communities and the wider economy

The survey only takes a few minutes, and your feedback could make a real difference.

Thank you for choosing Narrowboat Day Hire at Cow Roast Marina, and thank you for helping support the future of our waterways.
